Who Are The Sons of the American Revolution?
The Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) is a historical, educational, and patriotic non-profit, United State 501(c)3, corporation that seeks to maintain and extend:
* the institution of American freedom
* an appreciation for true patriotism
* a respect for our national symbols
* the value of American Citizenship
* the unifying force of e pluribus unum that has created, from the people of many nations, one nation and one people.
The SAR is a "lineage" society. This means that each of our members have traced their family
tree back to an ancestor who supported the cause of American Independence during the years 1774 - 1783 by either: rendering military service in the continental army or navy, state armies or navies, in the local militias or as a privateer, by giving supplies, money, or by rendering civil and other patriotic services. SAR members include fifteen presidents of the United States, generals, ambassadors, members of the U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. Congress, small businessmen, doctors, lawyers, school teachers, CPAs, elected local, and state officials, government employees, students, factory workers, miners, farmers, ranchers and loggers, all of whom have a deep affection for America, its heritage and institutions.

What We Do as a Chapter?
The members of Glacier Chapter work to honor the memories of our ancestors who scarified to establish a new country in which their families could live safe and free. We do this by honoring our current patriots throughout Northwest Montana. We honor veterans and active military personnel, members of the local fire, police, EMT departments and other outstanding citizens of all ages. Our chapter works with the local Boy Scouts through the SAR Eagle Scout program and we work to promote education about the Revolutionary War era in our local schools.
Some of our members have partaken in local parades and help to put up public displays about the Revolution and the Montana Society of the Sons of the American Revolution. As a chapter we work to support our national society and our state society to achieve their goals.
Most importantly, Glacier provides our members opportunities to meet other individuals with similar interests and pride in their heritage. Our meetings and social events provide members an opportunity to enjoy their family's accomplishments no matter how great or small while being part of a larger organization. Below you will find a copy of the Chapter's by-laws.
